I Design Access is proud to work with the International Paralympic Committee in some of the mega sports events such as Parapan American Games and Paralympic Games to oversee the implementation of accessibility standards and also to find solutions that work for temporary and legacy infrastructure. One of the most recent projects was the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru.
I Design Access, LLC was the accessibility consultant representing the International Paralympic Committee in charge of supporting the organizing committee and overseeing all aspects of accessibility during the design development, construction document and delivery of the project.
I Design Access objective was to review the design of all the venues where the 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games took place. More than 1,000 athletes competed in the Parapan Games and about 6,700 athletes participated in 39 Pan American competitions. I Design Access was in charge of doing all the project reviews for La Villa Pan Americana. The games infrastructure included 14 venues such as the National Sports Village (Videna), the Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Center, and the Callao Regional Sports Village, among others. I Design Access also reviewed and provided recommendations to improve the city’s infrastructure to ensure a positive spectators and participants of the games experience.
Lima 2019 project left a strong legacy of accessibility, from the infrastructure to policy change, after a strong collaboration between all the partners involved and I Design Access is proud to have been one of them.
Currently, I Design Access also works with international sports organizations for major international sports events in Western Europe and Asia.
