Project name:

Museum – US Olympic and Paralympic Museum

Project Details:

Colorado Springs, CO

I Design Access, LLC was one of the accessibility consultants for the first museum that will celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic athletes for Team USA.

The Museum designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is one of the most accessible museums in the world, designed in a way that guests of all abilities experience it the same way. Some of the inclusive designs include open captions, audio-description tracks, assisted listening, accessible exhibit spaces with ramped experiences and much more.

Team USA athletes were consulted throughout the project.  Since the founder of I Design Access, Ileana Rodriguez, competed in the London 2012 Paralympic Games she was consulted as an athlete and also as an architect.  One of Ileana’s contribution was to integrate the ramp within the exhibit spaces in a way that all people move from one exhibit to the next seamlessly using one single path regardless of any disability.

I Design Access is proud to have been the accessibility consultant since the early stages of this magnificent project in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
